Dementia Research: AARP's $60 Million Investment

This reflects AARP's ongoing commitment to people with dementia,
as well as their family members, friends and family as well as other
caregivers/care providers.

PERSONAL NOTE:
This is something that is a personal passion of mine, as I cared for my mom for over 10 years, and witnessed up close and personal and first-hand this "insidious thief" that robbed a once highly independent, capable, intelligent person of her essence of being nd her identity. It was a nightmare for both her and me, and I wouldn't wish that experience on my worst enemy! Beyond that, I was blessed to care for another beautiful lady as a private duty live-in her home for, sharing in her life in her home for nearly 3 years, and I can say it was much easier caring for the mother of someone else's family than being an only child caring for my mom. I know only too well all about dementia and Alzheimers, and as a member of the Baby Boomer generation, it's important to make mental as well as physical health and wellness a top priority!

As AARP commemorates their 60th anniversary, they are taking on what may be their toughest challenge yet — supporting the search for a treatment and, ultimately, a cure for dementia. With Baby Boomers now in their 60s and beyond, it's crucial we support this cause with all we've got to give!
