When we visit a new city, the monuments, squares and palaces and museums attract our attention, and to them we dedicate a good part of the time of our trip. But if we turn away from these attractions and we go to discover the famous markets of these cities we are fascinated by these places full of people, smells, colors, tastes and knowledge ..
Visit the markets is always a beautiful experience: you discover local customs, local products, details and unfamiliar foods that can also be a nice souvenir to take home. Often housed in interesting and beautiful buildings the visit to the city markets is always a nice break during our travels.
Here are some markets that I could visit during my travels and have particularly impressed me.
The Amsterdam Flower Market is found in a section of the Singel canal and was born in 1862. It is the many greenhouses that are above the floating barges, and of course you can find lots of seasonal flowers such as the famous tulips, but also violets thought, orchids, daffodils, snowdrops, carnations, peonies etc. Many also the seeds and bulbs that can be a nice souvenir to take home.
After all, the market for tulip bulbs in the Netherlands has been of great importance to the local economy and therefore this aspect cannot be overlooked when visiting Holland. Everything speaks of tulips … so many stories that you can chase in this characteristic flower market.
The beautiful French city of Lyone has a market that will surprise you: fruit, cheese and desserts are on display in a fantastically as if they were jewels. And ‘much loved and frequented by tourists: if you want you can have a drink with great oysters … very French!
I enjoyed photographing these very elaborate desserts and some fruit and vegetable stalls. I found them beautiful.
Traders are accustomed to seeing curious tutors and therefore, often, they are happy and very proud to show their beautiful merchandise arranged with order and elegance!
In Madrid in the beautiful San Miguel Market in the evening you can taste the delicacies of Spanish cuisine. The market is changing and gets a crowded meeting place for many young people and tourists.
This is an innovative model of market use that I am also noticing in other cities. In the morning they are classic markets, as we have always known them, but in the evening they become alternative meeting places. Spending an evening with friends, in front of a good dish and a good wine is always a great experience!
Markets in Tunisia.

You can be sure that when they offer you an excursion to Tunisia, a visit to these colorful and lively markets is always offered to tourists who want to learn about some aspects of local life.
