What Affiliate Tools you need to start, and grow?

Posted by Franklin Coetzee on August 22, 2020 - 7:01pm

Being a successful affiliate marketer usually means that you are excelling at something. Whether PPC marketing, SEO, Social Media or email marketing.

However, being successful also means that you apply strict work processes. Whether you want to test a new SEO trick or run an AB test on a landing page.

Applying a method is the only way to “scientifically” identify successes, failures and possible opportunities.

Since your time is limited, and you’d rather spend time on marketing than coding, you have no other choices but to gear up with the right affiliate marketing tools.

Having worked with thousands of affiliate marketers, I’ve experienced first hand what some of the tools I am listing here can do for affiliate marketers.

Website building

This is the foundation of your marketing. Without website and the ability to create, there is little you can do.

  • Wordpress - The most popular content management platform. It’s free, fully customizable and you can add various plugins or themes.
    • Recommended for SEO, content marketing and social media.
    • If you do high volume of traffic on PPC campaigns it might not be the best option as wordpress can be quite heavy.
  • Ghost - new content management platform. Can be free if you have your own server, or you can use their hosting service. Top publications are using them.
    • Recommended for SEO & content marketing
    • Depending on your hosting provider can also be good for PPC campaigns.
  • Instapage - One of the most popular landing page builders. It comes with tons of features and pre-built and beautiful templates. They’re not cheap, but you’ll save lot of time.
    ???? Check them out.
  • Leadpages - Probably better than instapage due to more advanced functionalities. Its’ then a question of taste and functionalities.
  • Unbounce - Seen as the founder of the landing page builders. Great platform, but it hasn’t changed so much since their early days.
    ???? Check them out.

Analytics & Tracking

If you can’t measure it, you can’t manage it!

Once you’ve got your website running, you need to understand what people are reading, where people are coming from and why they are leaving your site.

As a business, your ultimate goal is to make money. But on the way to buy a product you’ve reviewed, the visitors will engage with your content. These engagements are often labeled: “micro-conversions”. For example, a newsletter signup, scrolling down to the bottom of the product review, and even clicking on the affiliate offer link.

Google Analytics - The ultimate web analytics platform. It’s free and lets you access plenty of insights about what happens on your site. One of the main problems with Google Analytics is that in order to track and collect data, the analytics code must be on every web pages.

Because you are an affiliate marketer and since you don’t have access to your advertiser’s web pages, you can only “track” as far as when the visitor clicks on the affiliate link. What happens next, is beyond the reach of Google Analytics, and it stays locked in your affiliate account panel. For this reason, you need additional analytics and tracking tools.

AnyTrack.io: - It’s a platform that works alongside Google Analytics and your affiliate networks. It syncs your conversions and sales with your Google Analytics data. Not sure if you need it?

  • SEO Marketers: You will know precisely how much your SEO works generates.
  • PPC Marketers: You can track your affiliate conversions in Google Ads, Bing Ads.
  • Social media marketers: You can track your affiliate conversions in Facebook, without placing your FB pixel on the advertiser thank you page.
  • Email Marketing: You can track your affiliate conversions with your subscribers.
