What is the Grayscale Bitcoin Trust?

GBTC is a digital financial instrument designed to offer individuals interested in cryptocurrencies exposure to the Bitcoin market, eliminating the need for direct acquisition of the underlying asset.

Grayscale pioneered Bitcoin (BTC) accessibility by introducing the Grayscale Bitcoin Trust (GBTC), marking the inception of the first-ever Bitcoin fund of its kind, enabling investors to access BTC through a familiar investment vehicle.

Launched in September 2013 as a private, open-ended trust for accredited investors, it represents a diversified collection of pooled investor money with the capability to issue an unlimited number of shares.

The GBTC obtained Financial Industry Regulatory Authority (FINRA) approval in 2015 to trade publicly, allowing investors to buy and sell shares under the ticker symbol GBTC. The trust passively invests solely in BTC, offering investors exposure to BTC as a security without the complexities of directly buying, storing and securing Bitcoin. GBTC shares are designed to track the BTC market price with lower fees and expenses. Read More

You Can Now Use Your .Com Domain as Your Ethereum Address With GoDaddy and ENS

Ethereum Name Service domains can now be tied to traditional web domains with no fees, adding more functionality in the process.

Ethereum Name Service (ENS) domains are different from traditional Domain Name System (DNS) website domains. ENS domains can be assigned to an Ethereum wallet to ease the hassle of sending funds and assets, as they're much easier to remember than a typical alphanumeric wallet address. But typical web browsers can’t do much with them.

The two are getting closer together, though, thanks to a new alliance between ENS and GoDaddy. The web domain registrar just linked up with ENS to make it possible to tie a DNS address (like .com or .net) to an ENS name (.eth), so that the DNS domain can be used with crypto apps, wallets, and more.

“With this milestone, we are furthering our mission to build a more secure, decentralized, and user-friendly internet,” ENS founder Nick Johnson said in a release. Read More

Solana Makes It Easier to Launch Crypto Games With Built-In NFT Shops

Solana gaming toolkit GameShift is now available broadly, with new features like in-game Tensor marketplaces and support for other NFTs.

Solana Labs publicly launched its GameShift tool suite today, making it easier for game developers to integrate functionality from the Solana blockchain. And the public version of the tools, following a beta rollout last October, includes a Tensor integration for in-game NFT marketplaces.

Tensor and Solana Labs launched the full version of GameShift with the news that the full public version of the gaming suite includes the ability to tap into the functionality of the leading NFT marketplace on Solana.

According to a Tensor tweet, GameShift will let developers “save time and complexity for game devs, enable custom-branded marketplaces, [and] benefit from Tensor’s speed and deep liquidity.” Read More

FIRST IN 100% DECENTRALIZED SOCIAL MARKET MEDIA - GIANT BLOCKCHAIN CRYPTO PROJECT

HVC is poised to triumph in the crypto economy.

Markethive is a monolithic blockchain project currently operating as a social network, an entire inbound marketing platform with email, blogging, and digital media capabilities that broadcast to the vast internet. It’s a complete Market Network and the first of its kind.

Markethive is predominantly a free system where users can access a platform that can cost more than $2,500 offered by other marketing platforms. There are, of course, upgrades that open up more tools and monetization opportunities, the first being the Entrepreneur One Loyalty Program, and coming soon is the Premium Upgrade.

The many domains Markethive has and its autonomous cloud systems that ensure its sovereignty and longevity make it untouchable and immune from the tech giants’ rule and biased agenda. But can still remotely infiltrate the social media platforms and reach the multitudes either locked in or looking for an alternative meritocratic medium.

In other words, wherever you go, Markethive is there, anywhere and everywhere, delivering its message via its community of entrepreneurs to a far-reaching audience. This next-generation social market media is poised in the wings, and when the time is right, it will emerge as a shining light to lift people up and bring financial sovereignty and hope in this gloomy and uncertain world.

The video platform, conference rooms, the unique four specific news feeds currently in development, and many other projects and incentives add to the credibility and need for an ecosystem in the social media and digital marketing space. Read More

Ethereum's Vitalik Buterin Praises Farcaster, Disses Friend.Tech

The Ethereum co-founder appears big on Farcaster, a decentralized social media network making waves in crypto.

Decentralized social media protocol Farcaster is crypto’s latest obsession—and unlike other blockchain-backed social networks that have come and gone, Ethereum co-founder Vitalik Buterin seems to think this one can go the distance.

In response to a Twitter post early Monday about the failures of Friend.tech, another decentralized social app that quickly lost steam after a rapid rise in attention, Buterin appeared to write that platform off as doomed due to its speculative approach.

"Bad GameFi is using financial speculation as a substitute for fun—blockchain games need to be fun as games," Buterin said. “I believe a similar thing for crypto social.” Read More

Ripple Moving Hundreds of Millions Worth of XRP Around: Why Now?

Ripple has been sending millions worth of XRP to Bitstamp and also shifting tokens to different addresses in the past 24 hours.

Ripple has been making moves, transferring millions of XRP to centralized exchanges and to other wallets. The company initiated three “whale” transfers flagged by a popular service that tracks large transactions.

First things first, it’s important to outline that there’s been a development in the case between Ripple and the United States Securities and Exchange Commission.

As CryptoPotato reported earlier today, the SEC scored a small victory after a judge ordered Ripple Labs to provide historical financial statements in response to a longstanding request from the Commission. The company had previously contested the request, essentially claiming that its financial status wasn’t pertinent to the case. Read More

Hacker Claims to Have Accessed Law Enforcement System Used by Binance and Coinbase

A spokesperson for law enforcement system Kodex disputed the claims, saying that the hacker's screenshots show incomplete processes.

A hacker claims to have accessed a law enforcement system used by clients including crypto exchanges Coinbase and Binance.

But none of the parties involved—the security firm that reported it, the company that's supposedly been compromised, or the crypto exchanges at risk—seem to agree on whether to take the hacker's threat seriously.

Cybercrime intelligence firm Hudson Rock published the claims on its InfoStealers blog, noting that a threat actor with the handle "Tamagami" claimed to have accessed law enforcement systems including Kodex. That's the system used to handle subpoena requests for companies including Chainlink, Coinbase and Binance. Read More
