Learning about Bitcoin and the Blockchain has become accessible to everyone, thanks to the launch of the world’s first Bitcoin SV-focused massive online open course, developed by the Bitcoin Association and Saxion University.

The world’s first Bitcoin SV-focused massive online open course (MOOC) officially launched on February 5 and will run till September 1. The course was produced by Bitcoin Association, a Switzerland-based global industry organisation working to advance business on the Bitcoin SV blockchain, in partnership with Saxion University of Applied Sciences in the Netherlands and its dedicated Saxion Blockchain Institute.
“With [the] launch of the first online course with Saxion University, we’re making learning about Bitcoin easier and more accessible than ever before, to help train the next wave of blockchain innovators and disruptors,” said Bitcoin Association founding president Jimmy Nguyen.
The first of four planned online courses, ‘What is Bitcoin and why does it matter?’, is a basic introduction to Bitcoin (its system, network, protocol, blockchain and digital currency) for decision-makers of enterprises, developers, and students. The courses, including all assessments, are offered free of charge and are available through Saxion University to anyone around the globe interested in learning about Bitcoin.
Learners can progress through the lessons in their own time and at their own pace. At the conclusion of each course, participants will be invited to take an assessment to demonstrate their proficiency in the subject matter, with a Saxion University course certificate available upon successful completion.
Future courses are set to build on the knowledge gained in previous courses, part of a progressive curriculum that will steadily move into more technically advanced content.
“With the massive open online courses that we are developing… we want to ensure that everyone has access to the best blockchain education to help develop the next wave of innovation using Satoshi Nakamoto’s design for Bitcoin. This collaboration is special because this is one of the elemental disruptions in the financial world,” added Dr Jan Veuger, professor of blockchain at Saxion University.
