Article marketing is a great way for you to really start marketing your home based business online. It can get your name out there and interest people in visiting your site and ultimately buying from you. Here are some things about article marketing to keep in mind.
1. Write articles that solve a problem or entertain. When you set out to write an article, before you even start typing, keep in mind the purpose for writing the article. Who are you writing for? What kinds of things are you trying to teach them? Your writing should always solve a problem or entertain people. Remember, your basic reason for writing an article is to get people to go to your website and to buy what you have to offer. Give them a reason to want to know more about you and your product.
2. Do not hard sell. Articles are not advertisements. This is an important thing to remember. If you are not sure whether you are hard selling, get someone unrelated to your home based business to read your article and give you feedback on it. When someone feels they are being sold to, they do not like it, especially if they think they are settling in for some reading.
3. Write keyword rich articles. When you finally start writing, you need to think of some words that are related to your topic. For example, if you are writing about fishing, some words to keep in mind would be water, bait, and line. These words are called keywords, and it is what search engine "crawlers" look for when searching sites. If you hope to rank for your keywords, or in other words, show up in search results for those words, you have to make sure you use them a lot. But be careful. Use natural language. Articles full of keyword stuffing isn't attractive to anyone.
4. Guest post on other people's blogs. This is a great way to give yourself publicity and establish yourself as an expert. Articles can be used as blog posts; sometimes they need to be trimmed slightly. A guest blog will allow you to share with someone else's audience and attract them for your own.
5. Be patient. It takes time for search engines to find your articles. It also takes time to find people who are interested in using your articles. Don't let that deter you. Little by little you will see the results that article marketing has given many online entrepreneurs.
