The Eightfold Anointing is a physical exercise of anointing your body with fragrant olive oil as you repeat the declarations below. It represents the exciting spiritual reality that as a born-again believer in Jesus Christ you are set apart for God and the consecrated life!
You anoint yourself as a sign that you are immersing yourself into the likeness of Christ as you grow ever closer to Him, because, the Bible says,
“Don’t you realize that your body is the temple of the Holy Spirit, who lives in you and was given to you by God? You do not belong to yourself, for God bought you with a high price. So you must honor God with your body” (1 Corinthians 6:19-20 NLT).
Because you do not belong to yourself, you glorify God in your body and in your spirit, which are God’s. You have been set apart to be like Jesus today.
“For God knew his people in advance, and he chose them to become like his Son, so that his Son would be the firstborn among many brothers and sisters” (Romans 8:29 NLT).
