What is the Real Attraction of Markethive

Posted by Mike Prettyman on January 17, 2015 - 2:11am
What if the real attraction of Markethive is not its cutting-edge bells and whistles, its jazzy interface or any of the advanced technology that underlies its existence? What if, instead, the attraction is an age old throwback to the prehistoric human fascination with telling tales? Several thousand years ago, the agora was the hub of civilization, a place to which traders returned from remote lands with exotic spices, silks, monkeys, parrots, jewels -- and fabulous stories.

In many ways, Markethive more resembles an ancient agora or local bazaar than common ecommerce ventures. In ancient Greece the agora was the central meeting place in the city states. The literal meaning of the word is "gathering place" or "assembly". The agora was the center of athletic, artistic, spiritual and political life of the city. This is in essence the business model of Markethive.

Millions and millions have flocked to the Social Internet in an incredibly short time, not because it is user-friendly -- it isn't really – they came because they are looking for that something that is missing, that intangible quality of action that has been long missing. In sharp contrast to being alienated by the corporate broadcast and advertisement media, Markethive connects people to each other and provides a secure space in which your human voice will be rapidly discovered.

Though corporate business insists on seeing all markets as one, the new agora, Markethive, is not a market at all. To its inhabitants, it is primarily a place in which all participants are audience to each other and all interactions are voluntary. The conversation is not packaged; it is intrinsic. Unlike the consumer conformity imposed by television, advertising, and corporate propaganda, Markethive has established a new marketing legitimacy and gives free rein to play.

Many of you that are drawn into Markethive will find yourselves exploring a freedom never before imagined: to indulge your curiosity, to debate, to disagree, to laugh at yourselves, to compare visions, to learn, to create new art, and be exposed to new knowledge.

Because Markethive is so technically efficient, it is being adopted by entrepreneurs seeking to become more productive. They are hungry for knowledge, for the intellectual capital that has become more valuable than bricks and mortar or any tangible asset. What these entrepreneurs don't see are the other effects of this technology. Markethive is inherently nonhierarchical and antibureaucratic. It does not reinforce loyalty and obedience; it encourages idle speculation and loose talk. It encourages stories. It encourages conversation.

These stories are the new conversations told online in Markethive and they are generating new ways of looking at business problems. They are spawning new perspectives, new tools, and a new kind of intellectual bravery more comfortable with risk than with regulation. The result is not just new things learned but a vastly enhanced ability to learn things. And Markethive is accelerating the pace of this learning.

In the Markethive networked marketplace, it is comfortable and that is reflected in the joy of the community play and in the joy of the shared knowledge. The two become one in the Hive where the freedom to “talk about it” is what we enjoy.

Our shared experiences bring new attitudes to our community conversations and socializing because in Markethive we are able to communicate freely and securely. Every social encounter brings amazing new views for our consideration.

Markethive reinforces freedom to converse. Social conversation is the precursor to business conversation and the agreements created in these conversations are the driving force toward a new global commerce.

Markethive is enabling conversations among human beings that have simply not been possible in the era of mass media. Markethive promises a vibrant renewal in which commerce becomes far more naturally integrated into the life of individuals and communities.

James Eckburg BOY what a post so far on this blog. Two very good comments and glad to know you both. I look forward to work with both of you and learn from you both.

Mike Prettyman David, the Markethive networked conversations enable powerful new forms of social organization and knowledge exchange to emerge. As a result, markets are getting smarter, more informed, more organized. Participation in a networked marketplace changes people fundamentally. People in networked markets have figured out that they get far better information and support from one another than from vendors. So much for corporate rhetoric about adding value to their “consumerized” products.
