In addition to touch controls, FCA uses voice control with hotword recognition similar to Amazon Alexa, Google Assistant or Siri from Apple. For example, the vehicle occupants can control the temperature of the air conditioning system or ask the navigation system for the next charging station. Alexa is also integrated in Uconnect 5, but only serves as an interface between the car and home. For example, the car can be unlocked using the smart home speaker, while the lighting in the car can be controlled.

Another interface to the car with Uconnect 5 is the smartphone with a corresponding app. Owners can also control functions of the car such as the windows and locks, but can also connect to customer service and report stolen vehicles. It will also be possible to set times and maximum speeds for children, for example, and then receive a notification on the smartphone when they are exceeded.

Uconnect 5 is scheduled to be launched this year
Uconnect 5 (Plus) will be introduced in the first cars later this year together with a three-month trial subscription for all services offered. No information is yet available on pricing.
