The EU actually wants to become "climate neutral" by 2050. Nevertheless, funds should flow into cross-border gas projects in the coming years.

The EU Parliament has cleared the way for the funding of gas projects worth billions in the EU. The MPs rejected an appeal from Greens and Leftists, who reject further investments in fossil energy projects as harmful to the climate.
The Greens criticize that around 29 billion euros could be spent on natural gas projects alone. The CDU MP Markus Pieper, on the other hand, said: "It is fundamentally wrong to panic about climate protection and to demonize everything that has to do with gas."
