Berlin - The president of the Robert Koch Institute, Lothar Wieler, does not consider it impossible that the coronavirus pandemic will also lead to conditions in Germany such as those in Spain or Italy.

"We cannot rule out the fact that we also have more patients than ventilation places in this country," said Wieler of the "Frankfurter Allgemeine Sonntagszeitung". Whether this is the case is speculation. "In any case, we have to count on the fact that the capacities are not sufficient, of course," added the RKI boss.

So far, almost 6,000 people have died from the consequences of the corona virus in Spain, and more than 10,000 in Italy. So far, 478 victims have been reported in Germany.
