In the past trading week 2020, the Swiss stock market set new records. The Swiss Market Index (SMI) scratched the 11,000 point mark on Wednesday, but was unable to break it. The Swiss stock market posted taxes on Thursday and then recovered on Friday. On a weekly basis, there was an increase of only 0.07%.

The biggest winners in the Swiss Performance Index (SPI) once again attracted attention in the week from Monday, January 20 to Friday, January 24 through company figures:

1. Lonza + 8.2% (weekly performance)

Above all Lonza: The figures presented on Tuesday were convincing almost across the board. The world's largest contract manufacturer for the pharmaceutical, biotech and consumer health industries exceeded sales expectations with its sales performance. Operating profit was reasonable, but the bottom line was also better than forecast due to a lower tax rate than expected. However, the dividend will not be increased, which is explained by the continued high need for investment.

2. To the rose + 6.9%

The growth shown by the mail order pharmacy last year was honored by the market participants. The company also confirmed the forecast for 2022. As a result, Barclays and Berenberg raised the price target for the shares.

3. Sonova + 5.7%

Another popular health title this week was Sonova. However, news about the hearing aid manufacturer was few and far between. Read the analysis by our market technician Roland Vogt here to see whether joining Sonova is worthwhile.

4.Logitech + 5.6%

At the beginning of the week, the manufacturer of peripheral devices Logitech had communicated the good news: In the third quarter, thanks to a successful Christmas business, it achieved record sales. On Friday, the securities also benefited from the good specifications from the USA. Good numbers from the chip manufacturer Intel had made significant gains in technology values there (more about Intel here).

5th Starrag + 4.2%

Starrag could not come up with superlatives when presenting the sales figures. But the normalization after the restructuring sparked price fantasy among the market participants. The otherwise very illiquid titles were in demand on Friday.
