It has not been sufficiently researched whether infection with the new coronavirus can have long-term consequences. The fact is, however, that more and more recovered people report long-term consequences long after they have recovered. From hair loss to confusion. FOCUS Online shows what is known so far.

Peggy Goroly had already left Corona behind. But more than three months after she got through the illness, she noticed how her hair fell out. In an interview with the "Business Insider", the 56-year-old American explains that her helplessness had turned to a Covid 19 help group on Facebook. In her post, she wrote: "Is anyone else losing hair here?"

The response was great - many other users had the same problem. In fact, hair loss is not atypical after a serious illness. The phenomenon is called telogenic effluvium and is a form of diffuse hair loss. It usually begins two to three months after the illness and should disappear a few months later.
