Italy has so far infected a total of 86,498 people.

 
Rome - Nearly 1,000 people died in Italy from Coronavirus infection from Thursday through Friday. This is based on figures from the Italian civil protection authority, which were published on Friday evening.

According to this, a total of 86,498 people have been infected in Italy so far, the number rose by around 7 percent or 5,959 compared to the previous day. The number of fatalities in Italy rose by 969 cases or just under 12 percent to 9,134 within 24 hours, it said.

Italy has now overtaken China in terms of the absolute number of infections, at least according to the official figures. In the United States, however, the virus is now rampant.
