Police should enforce rules for corona virus in Lower Saxony

According to the will of Lower Saxony's Interior Minister Boris Pistorius (SPD), the police and local law enforcement officers should consistently enforce the restrictions due to the corona epidemic. The police presence on the streets will be increased significantly and compliance with the regulations will be a priority, he announced on Thursday.

Citizens would have to reduce their social contacts to the bare minimum. "In the event of violations, shops, ice cream parlors, cafes or restaurants are closed, gatherings of people are dissolved and fines are imposed on the basis of the Infection Protection Act and prosecuted as criminal offenses."

"Unfortunately, some people have still not accepted that the rules set by the state government are life-saving and life-saving measures," said the Interior Minister. "We therefore appeal once again to reason and the responsibility of all citizens."

It should now be clear to everyone that further steps would have to follow if the rules were not adhered to everywhere without exception. "Today I hope that all of these drastic measures, which a few weeks ago would hardly have been possible for, can be lifted quickly because the crisis has been overcome."
