Storm "Sabine" overturns truck trailers - and sets it up again
Storm "Sabine" overturned a truck trailer on Autobahn 3 in the Upper Palatinate - and straightened it up a short time later. "The towing service was just on site, so the weather has probably thought: We put the trailer back up ourselves," said a police spokesman on Monday.
A gust of wind had blown the trailer onto the guardrail between the carriageways at Nittendorf in the Regensburg district. "It was hanging weird in the air and threatened to tip onto the oncoming lane." But when the towing service arrived, a gust from the opposite direction caught the trailer and raised it again.
"As if nothing had happened, the driver was able to get back in his truck and drive off," it said. For safety's sake, however, he then shut down at the next exit and waited until the weather calmed down. After two hours of full closure, the motorway towards Regensburg was released again.
