The provincial capital Wuhan has not yet been taken into account in the easing - the closure should end there on April 8, state media report.
The central Chinese metropolis is the starting point for the pandemic. The first case of the viral disease Covid-19 was identified in early December 2019. The entire city was finally quarantined at the end of January.
