Tensions between the United States and China are now affecting air traffic. The US government announced that it would no longer let Chinese passenger planes land.
The conflict between the USA and China intensifies in the Corona crisis. The US will no longer allow passenger aircraft from four Chinese airlines to land from June 16. This was announced by the U.S. Department of Transportation.
The move is a response to Beijing's failure to allow United Airlines and Delta Air Lines to resume flights to China this week. The two US airlines' flights were suspended a few weeks ago due to the corona pandemic.
The U.S. Department of Transportation argued that China's position violated an agreement between the two countries on air travel. It continues to communicate with the Chinese side so that US and Chinese airlines "can fully exercise their bilateral rights".
In the meantime, Chinese airlines would only be allowed the same number of flights as the Chinese government allowed US airlines. Air China, China Eastern Airlines, China Southern Airlines and Hainan Airlines Holding are affected by the retaliation measure.
Tensions between the United States and the People's Republic had recently increased. US President Donald Trump accuses China of obscuring tactics in the outbreak of the corona virus.
