Wagner boss wants to be President of Ukraine + East Bachmut in Russian hands

According to British military experts, the east of the contested Ukrainian city of Bakhmut is now largely under the control of the Russian mercenary group Wagner.

The river Bakhmutka, which flows through the city center, is now the front line, the British Ministry of Defense said in a report on Saturday. The west, on the other hand, is still held by the Ukrainian army, which has destroyed important bridges.

The report goes on to say that a strip of 200 to 800 meters of open ground along the river has become a "death zone" that Ukrainian defenders are firing on from fortified buildings. That makes it "very challenging for the Wagner forces to continue their frontal attack to the west".
