Berlin - Welthungerhilfe warns of the drastic effects of the corona crisis in Africa and developing countries.

“It can be assumed that we will have to complain about many deaths there over the next few weeks and months. This also destroys livelihoods, and poverty could continue to increase, not least because of the devastating economic consequences of the pandemic there, ”said Welthungerhilfe president Marlehn Thieme of the“ Neue Osnabrücker Zeitung ”.

The industrialized countries should not "let Africa down now and should keep their promises for all planned grants and support programs," said the president of the aid organization. Welthungerhilfe will continue its work in the 38 countries in which it operates for the time being as far as possible.
