Interesting story of a friend.

The other day,

I attended a virtual networking event.

I was the only African.

There was an introduction and brief comments from the host.

After that, we were assigned to smaller break out rooms to personally get to know each other.

I was assigned to a room of 3 persons.

We got talking about our skills and what we do.

a person wearing a suit and tie

One of us had his video off.

And after some minutes, he started interrupting and cursing me.

He was throwing racist words and trying to bully me.

I simply told him this-

“Why don’t you switch on your video and talk to me like a Man if you weren’t scared”

I stood up to him, was never going to give him that chance.

He continued and I just ignored him.

If he really wanted to talk to me then he would had switched on his video.

He should had manned up.

Then we would had dug it out.

At least I wasn’t the one hiding.

He was reported and booted out.

If you’re bullied or racially abused,

this is what you can do:

🎯 Stand up to the person... if it involves physical confrontation, please let go.

🎯 Report to a higher authority.

🎯 Ignore and leave the scene.

If you see someone being racially abused, if you can, please come to the persons rescue.

Don’t just ignore.

If you’re a racist, please stay away from me.
