I speak to dozens of American every week, a good percentage tell me how they are struggling to pay for essentials like food, utility bills, rent or mortgage, car related payment, health insurance... you get it.  Many find their pay check cut or they are out of work because the company move out of the state or the country.  I worked at a large homeless shelter so I saw first had the effect of this down turn/depression is having on families.

If you think of this scene like the flow of a big, big river running down stream to the ocean and you think that having or looking for a job is the answer then you are fighting the flow of a powerful river upstream. In the next 5-10 years technology will automate manual labor with computers and robotic machines. The only jobs available will be at the very top for executives, managers and CEO’s.

So what is the answer.  Before the Industrial Revolution there were thousands if not millions of early Americans who ran stores, family farms, and repair businesses… just worked for themselves. They were the early entrepreneurs creating a period of growth, prosperity and levels of freedom to be envied today.  As I see it as well as many other see it now is the time to start your own business. Something you dream of doing and that you are passionate about.  Don’t listen to the defeatist and sure it won’t be easy. It will be yours. You have put in 35 to 40 hours or longer for the boss. Has it been easy and worth while...yes for very few.  Move into your business over time. Previously, I told the story of a woman I meet at a swap meet who had her family working with her and was able to retire her husband from a job.
