When the Nord Stream pipelines carrying natural gas from Russia to Germany

were damaged last September, U.S. officials were quick to suggest

Russia had bombed its own pipelines. But according to a new report

by the legendary investigative journalist Seymour Hersh,

it was the U.S. Navy that carried out the sabotage, with help from Norway.

Hats off to Mr. Hersh! I was 9 in 1968, the exposure of the coverup was one bookend in my

journey of political skepticism. This maybe the other.

What's the point of asking the government, when you've seen them lie in the past?
