I was a fire fighter in the U.S. Air Force. When I got out in 1974, I took 5 tests for fire fighter in the Columbus , Oh. area. I scored first or second on all five tests. The least number of positions open were 17 and the most were 88. I never received a call on any of the depts. I was 21 and married and needed a job. My "white priviledge" kept me from getting a job. During that time and since that time, white men have always been at a disadvantage when it came to getting a job.
