Becoming More Creative
Hello, this is Sandy Gallagher CEO of the Proctor Gallagher Institute.
And I’ve got a great lesson for you today on becoming more creative. There’s something good about everything including what may seem the worst
situation. That might be hard for you believe but it’s the truth. Anyone who understands the law of opposites or the law of polarity knows this is true; the
good side of bad times is that you’re forced to become more creative.
Think about this, Keith Waters, a friend of Bob Proctor’s is in the mortgage business and Bob was telling me this story. There are many mortgage brokers who will tell you times are tough right now. But apparently Keith Waters doesn’t see it that way. He thinks business is pretty darn good and as he puts it, he said you sure have to be creative though. See that’s the key. People like Keith who don’t just sit back and cry about bad times, they keep the economy moving until it gets right back on track. What’s Keith’s secret? It’s a positive attitude. You absolutely must have a winning attitude to win! The wonderful thing is attitude and creativity is something we can control.
If you form an image in your mind of how you want things to be a real, clear image, after solving your problem. How do you want it to be? Then you’re
going to have a much easier time finding a way to get it there. You’ve been gifted with all the necessary faculties within you to improve any circumstance
around you. And here’s the only real catch. You must choose to do so.
Okay, so here’s today’s exercise. I want you to close your eyes and remember a time when a negative attitude prevented you from thinking creatively.
Perhaps you were just so darned upset about a problem that you simply couldn’t find a solution, it just made you freeze. Now the real problem at
that time was your stinkin thinkin. [Laughs]. So now that you’re calm, I want you to creatively and with a very positive attitude think of all the possible
ways you could have handled this situation differently even if you ended up eventually solving the problem. I want you to take the next 5 minutes and
solve it again in as many ways as you can. And when you’re done I want you to read them back to yourself and remember this.
What made the difference in your creativity today? Was it your positive attitude toward finding a solution? You knew you could do it?
