Born in former Czechoslovakia as Blanka Kyselová she studied Secondary school of glass arts in Železný Brod, a little town with great tradition of glass production. After that she graduated at University of the Arts in Prague.

In 1982 Blanka Matragi opened a salon in Beirut "Blanka Haute Couture“ on the boulevard Hamra. In a short time she became a recognized fashion designer not only in the Persian Gulf region. Her detailed gowns became famous in the Persian princesses and Sheikh circuit.

When the tragical explosion in Beirut happened this month Blanka Matragi said to Czech newspapers:
"For a long time we had no idea what was going on. I live eight kilometres from the blast site, but I'm closer to the salon! ...Fortunately, no one was in the workshop at the time of the explosion. Some employees left half an hour before this catastrophic explosion happened. Those who sat by the windows and embroidered would be wounded. I don't want to figure out what would happen.“

Blanka Matragi opened also a boutique in Praha. She designs not only dresses for ladies but glass as well.
