Climber Adam Ondra

Adam Ondra (born February 5, 1993) is a Czech professional rock climber, specializing in lead climbing and bouldering. Rock & Ice magazine described Ondra in 2013 as a prodigy and the leading climber of his generation.Ondra is the only male athlete to have won World Championship titles in both disciplines in the same year (2014), and he is also the only male athlete to have won the World Cup series in both disciplines (lead climbing in 2009, 2015 and 2019, and bouldering in 2010).

One of his greatest achievements was world success on  Dawn Wall  - he conquered the hardest wall in a record 8 days -  14th - 21rd November 2016.

"Czech sports climber Adam Ondra was the third person in the world to climb probably the most difficult multi-length route in the world Dawn Wall in the El Capitan massif in Yosemite National Park in the USA. He spent eight days in a nearly kilometer-long wall with fellow climber and breaker Pavel Blažek, which surpassed the performance of Americans Tommy Caldwell and Kevin Jorgeson in January last year by eleven days. "

Adam Ondra is now  looking forward to Olympic games in Tokyo this summer.

When a journalist asked him how he repares short time before the climbing Ondra said:

"Just before climbing, before a sharp attempt, I am usually silent and I concentrate on the moment itself. For example, five minutes before climbing, I will walk step by step all the way in my mind. I remind myself where the catch is, where the step is, where I will turn on the individual fuses and so on. The visualization of the climbing itself is then part of the ritual."

Climbing in Czechia (and also in former Czechoslovakia) has a long tradition, we have a lot mountaineerers who took part in expeditions to Himalayas etc.

I think what Adam Ondra says about the concentration before the sharp attempt can be used in many human activities and can inspire us.
