Czech Marionette Hurvínek Flies to Space

LIVE: The star passenger of the Falcon 9 rocket: Hurvínek is flying into space!

You my ask - who is Hurvínek ? Evidently you are not Czech otherwise you would known - here a short explanation:

Spejbl and Hurvínek Theatre (S+H) is a puppet theatre located in Prague, Czech Republic. Founded in 1930 by puppeteer Josef Skupa, Spejbl and Hurvínek was the first professional puppet theatre established in Czechoslovakia and in the present days there plays already fourth generation of interpreters.

Practically every Czech aged 0-100 knows Hurvínek and his dad Spejbl. Even if he did not visit the theater, where these famous puppets play performances for children and adults, he could at least hear these puppets talk on gramophone records, see them on television or read books with their stories.
Spejbl with Hurvínek accompanied by only three other characters - Hurvínek's friend girl Mánička, old lady grandma Bábinka and dog Žeryk experience mostly slightly catastrophic but above all funny stories.

It's a small step for a man, a big leap for a puppet !

After the mole, another Czech child hero, Hurvínek, is heading into space. They are already heading into the stratosphere of the earth on board the Planetum-1 satellite.
"Hurvínek, meanwhile, as a proper cosmonaut, honestly fulfilled his space training. And since he overcame the 16 G overload in the Y-axis, he was allowed to fly, " Denisa Kirschnerová, director of the Spejbl and Hurvínek theatre in Praha, capital of Czechia, together with Jakub Rozehnal, director of the Prague Planetarium, told the Czech newspaper Blesk.

While the traditional wooden hero will continue to delight children and adults from the stage, his two-centimeter tall glass doppelganger from the glass workshop Košler will fly off our planet. The satellite will be launched into space by SpaceX's Falcon 9 rocket of visionary and space pioneer Elon Musk. Universe, look forward!

The satellite Planetum-1 was created in cooperation with the Czech startup Spacemanic and the Research and test aviation institute. The costs of its acquisition and launch amount to less than three and a half million crowns, including the construction of a flight control center and the holding of workshops for pupils and students of Czech schools.

It is the first purely educational satellite in the world. Thanks to Planetum-1, children and students will be able to literally touch the universe with their own hands. For pupils of primary and secondary schools, workshops are prepared in the planetarium, in which they learn how such a satellite ever gets into space, how it maneuvers, how it takes photographs and how it transmits data to the earth. They will learn how to assemble and send instructions to the satellite and how to receive the signal. They will make their own antenna, with the help of which they will be able to listen to the broadcast of the satellite.

The Planetum-1 satellite also carries a magnetometer and a number of other sensors that will provide data that university students will use in their bachelor's or master's theses.

Pupils will have the opportunity to communicate with the satellite, to obtain data on the course of the flight or to take images from orbit.

Hurvínek and his proud father Spejbl thank you for reading
and I wish Hurvínek Happy Journey !
