I started an online business back in 2005. I would like to share some experiences I have had that work and others that did not. Right from the start I had a great mentor who told me to purchase leads and get an autoresponder. My mentor at the time already had multiple emails written out that she imported to the autoresponder system. Keep in mind that this was way before Get Response and AWeber came on the seen to simplify things. Autoresponders back then were more like form fields that had to be manually filled out. Anyway, The leads were hot and delivered results. I began making money.
This was my first realization the email marketing works! The difference between then and now is I no longer purchase leads. The key for the best quality lead is to generate them yourself through your own websites. What I have realized is not to waiste a bunch of money on advertising your not sure about. Do some research before your purchase traffic to a website. I say this because some people will pass off robot web traffic as real traffic (people).
These days marketing as become so much easier. Just go to where the masses are. Dive right into where your niche is. I am talking about social media. Facebook, Twitter, Google Plus, LinkedIn and Forums can produce excellent results as long as you engage in conversation and let others get to know you. Get out there and engage with people. Find out what their interests are and what it is they want out of life. Professionals refer to this as FORM- Family, Occupation, Recreation, Money. These are the key areas to talk about with new prospects for any business.
One thing I wish I did more of in the beginning was calling my leads. This is a crucial step to take if you want your business to grow quickly. Just calling and saying hello, letting the person on the other end know that you are real and available for any questions they may have can really go a long way.
Regardless of what type of work you are doing to be successful in your business, one thing is for sure, be consistent at it. Go to work like you do at your J-O-B. Be productive and choose to do things that will produce positive results. Here are a couple. Start a blog, Drive traffic to your website (can be social media, classified ads, Ezines or email marketing). Stay consistent at this. Set a goal to accomplish certain tasks every day. By doing so, you are placing yourself on a path to success. Also, do not let yourself become negative about your own success. It is much easier for us to think about a situation in a negative way than it is to think positively. So, a good way to counter that and stay the course is to listen to; and read, positive and inspiring audio while revisiting what it is you want in life. Go back over your goals on why you started this journey. Stay focused, adjust and tweak those goals. Make them challenging- Set the bar high and tell yourself that failure is not an option.
A persons mindset about their business is the biggest determiner of how much success they will have with that business. People who are lazy, negative and always looking for excuses will never succeed. Again, we become what we think about! What I am thinking about is my set goal of creating an incredible income to live my dream lifestyle. I know my number, do you know yours? If not, I can help you get it.
