Billy Nicholls was originally a mere staff songwriter. He was hired by music exec Andrew Oldham to write music for Immediate Records. His talent for singing was discovered by Oldham, who put him in the booth. Would You Believe was his 1968 album, released in April of that year. Would You Believe was purported to be the “British response” to the Beach Boys.
