Another Blue Note Record release, Platinum Jazz was first a companion to War’s compilation of Greatest Hits. Platinum Jazz was unusual in that the first half of the record was composed of new material, while the second half were compilations of previous album tracks by War. The cover art on the vinyl record was done by Lee Oskar.
Platinum Jazz was printed in silver ink, and original vinyl records have the track lists on the cover in some cases. The original edition records also are mismatched—they don’t have labels that match the blue ones on the cover. What seems like a small error can drive up the price because of its uniqueness.
