Posted by Bill Rippel on March 10, 2021 - 1:35am

Year: 1977
Record label: Chiswick
Worth Today: $2172.00*

Motorhead’s eponymous single was released in 1977, and it took two days to record (April 27-29, 1977). The single was recorded in a studio in Escape in Kent, England on the Chiswick label. Later that year, the heavy metal band would record two new versions of “Motorhead.” The early original vinyl record is the big-seller, however.

“Motorhead” was supposed to be part of Motorhead’s debut album. That fell through, however, when United Artists Records shelved the project and dropped the band from the label in 1976. UAR didn’t release any of the material associated with the scrapped debut. It wasn’t until 1977 that Chiswick gave Motorhead a chance.
