Clifford Jordan and John Gilmore, two jazz saxophonists, recorded Blowing in from Chicago in 1957 and released the album on Blue Note Records. The vinyl record also had Horace Silver on the piano, Art Blakey on the drums, and Curly Russell on the bass.

Blowing in From Chicago was described by AllMusic as a “heated jam session” in a rave review.Blowing in from Chicago had seven songs in total, starting with “Status Quo” and ending with “Let It Stand,” a nearly eight-minute track. Charlie Parker is also credited on “Billie’s Bounce” as the songwriter. “Let It Stand” is excluded from early pressings of this vinyl record.
