Kenny Burrell released Midnight Blue, a jazz album, in 1963. The album had seven tracks, beginning with “Chittlins Con Carne” and ending with “Saturday Night Blues.” Midnight Blue was yet another pricey vinyl from Blue Note Records. The jazz album had Major Holley, Bill English, Ray Baretto, and Stanley Turrentine on the album in addition to Burrell.
Jazz Improv lists Midnight Blue as a must-listen for anyone interested in Kenny Burrell, as it is the jazz guitarist’s best work. It was Burrell’s most famous album for Blue Note Records. NPR included Midnight Blue on its “Basic Jazz Library” recommendations in 2005.
