126. Pet Shop Boys – Electric

Posted by Bill Rippel on March 19, 2021 - 1:32am

Year: 2013
Record label: x2, Kobalt Label Services
Worth Today: $1470.00*

Pet Shop Boys left Parlophone, their longtime record label, in favor of their own label, which they called x2. They released Electric, their twelfth studio album, in 2013 through Kobalt. The album was recorded in six months and produced with Stuart Price, who stated that he wanted the album to have a “euphoric” feel.

The dance record was intended to shake off cobwebs from Elysium, the Pet Shop Boys’ eleventh album. Elysium was moody and reflective, and it was panned by critics. Elysium marked the end of the twenty-eight-year partnership between Pet Shop Boys and Parlophone. Electric was critically-acclaimed, marking a turn-around for the band.
