25. The Beatles – ‘Til There Was You' (10” acetate)

Posted by Bill Rippel on November 21, 2020 - 1:02am

Year: 1963
Record label: Capitol Records
Worth Today: £77,500*

At auction, a ten-inch acetate of the Beatles’ “Til There Was You” sold for £77,500 ($97,690 in US currency). The single was recorded in 1962 and had “Hello Little Girl” as its B-side. It sold for such a high price because it had the handwriting of Brian Epstein, AKA “the fifth Beatle.”

Epstein was the music exec who managed the band, and he was with The Beatles from 1962 until his death in 1967 due to an accidental barbiturate overdose. The London native became as famous as the band he managed. The auctioned vinyl bearing his writing was described as a “Holy Grail” item.

Rick Gold wow! that is one expensive disc :)
