35. Aphex Twin – Caustic Window (test pressing)

Posted by Bill Rippel on December 02, 2020 - 1:27am

Year: 1992-1994
Record label: Rephlex
Worth Today: $46,300*

In 2014, there was a Kickstarter campaign dedicated to getting Aphex Twin’s Caustic Window album’s test-pressing edition released. The campaign was successful, and it would sell for $46,300 on eBay (the campaign raised $67,424 in total). A test-pressed vinyl record, for those who might not know, is a vinyl made to test out the finished product before the label makes thousands of them. It’s sort of a prototype.

Caustic Window was originally planed for a full release in the mid-nineties. However, only a few test-pressings were produced. Aphex Twin (real name: Richard D. James, who also went by “Caustic Window”) included 15 total songs on the album.

Rick Gold wow! must have been a very good album!
