This Shellac vinyl is held on Discogs. Long Cleve Reed and Little Harvey Hull, along with Sunny Wilson, their guitarist, formed a trio of Black singer-songwriters in the early 1900s Mississippi. In 1927, they released their vinyl album, which contained “Mama Don’t You Know How,” among other blues singles
Red, Hull, and Wilson (AKA the Down Home Boys) were ahead of their time, as blues had not yet become prominent, though Black people invented the genre. White artists were still wrongfully being credited with blues music’s origination. The Down Home Boys recorded the album on Black Patti Records, a Chicago label that released just 55 records in its time.
