Last American Hero from Ashbury Park, New Jersey was Bruce Springsteen’s 1978 vinyl album that was designed only for promotional use in Japan, making it one of the rarer vinyl albums on this list. Last American Hero (YAPC95) was promoting the album Darkness on the Edge of Town, The Boss’s fourth.
Last American Hero, despite being used to promote the fourth album, only used tracks from Springsteen’s first three albums. Famous singles on the album included “Thunder Road,” “Born to Run,” “Blinded by the Light,” and more. Because of its limited, one-country-only release, Last American Hero is an extremely rare and expensive collectible.
