Released in 1965 in Jamaica, this reggae/ska album was titled Mouth A Massey/Ska Beat after the A- and B-side tracks, respectively. The label on which it was recorded was Pat’s Record. The vinyl was a seven-inch, 45RPM, and it was pressed by West Indies Recording Company. The Skatalites were credited on the vinyl in addition to Ellis.

Mouth A Massey/Ska Beat would go on to have four different versions, all pressed by WIRC. Alton Ellis was one of the innovators of the rocksteady genre, and he has been given the title of “Godfather of Rocksteady” in pop culture. He was born in TrenchTown in Kingston, Jamaica in 1938.
