Bitcoin ETFs See $81M Outflow as Ethereum ETFs Cash In

On Wednesday, U.S. spot bitcoin exchange-traded funds (ETFs) saw an outflow of $81.36 million, while spot ethereum ETFs experienced a brighter day, bringing in $10.77 million during the trading session.

Crypto ETFs Clash: Bitcoin ETFs Stumble With $81M Loss, Ethereum Funds Pull in $10.77M

After enjoying two days of steady inflows, spot bitcoin ETFs faced a setback on Wednesday, losing $81.36 million. Franklin Templeton’s EZBC ETF emerged as the standout performer, attracting $3.42 million in positive flows, followed closely by Blackrock’s IBIT, which garnered $2.68 million. These two were the only gainers, while the biggest loss came from Grayscale’s GBTC, which saw a reduction of $56.87 million, according to sosovalue.xyz stats.

Trailing GBTC was Fidelity’s FBTC, which shed $18.05 million, and Ark Invest’s and 21shares’ ARKB, which dropped $6.77 million. Lastly, Bitwise’s BITB faced a decline of $5.78 million. Meanwhile, HODL, BRRR, Grayscale’s Mini Bitcoin Trust, BTCO, BTCW, and DEFI had a neutral day with no gains or losses. Wednesday’s divestments brought the cumulative net inflows across all 12 funds down to $17.32 billion.

On the ethereum side, ETFs had a better day, gaining $10.77 million, though the cumulative net inflows remained in the red by $365.89 million. Blackrock’s ETHA led the charge, raking in $16.13 million, with Fidelity’s FETH close behind, absorbing $6.65 million. Bitwise’s ETHW gathered $2.67 million, and Grayscale’s Mini Ethereum Trust added $2.26 million.

However, Grayscale’s Ethereum Trust ETHE put a damper on the day’s success, as it divested $16.95 million. Since its public trading debut on July 23, 2024, ETHE has lost $2.34 billion. In comparison, $155.91 million in trade volume was settled for ethereum ETFs on Wednesday, a modest figure next to the $1.30 billion recorded by bitcoin spot ETFs on Aug. 14. Currently, all nine spot ethereum ETFs hold $7.54 billion in reserves, representing 2.34% of the total.
