During the 1960s and 1970s, tons of curious, Western tourists would stop by the Berlin Wall in Germany just to try to catch a glimpse of East Berlin from West Berlin. Some artists would even play concerts or host other performances near the wall, leading more tourists to flock to the controversial site. Today, though, many tourists who come to the German capital to see the site of the wall don’t have the full effect.
Today, tourists can go and see where the wall stood, but that same site no longer has any real remnants of the original Berlin Wall since it came down in 1990. For those who want to see some of the original wall, they can find pieces scattered throughout Germany and in museums.
