In 1988, Michael Jackson purchased a plot of land that would become perhaps one of the most famous celebrity homes of all time: Neverland. Named after a magical world of the same name, where children never grow up, Jackson reportedly spent over $35 million dollars turning it into his famous theme park haven. Now, following Jackson’s death, it is a shadow of its former self.

After taking a train from the front gates to the main house, you would expect to be surrounded by greenery and brightly coloured flora. The estate is 2,800 acres and literally contains a theme park, complete with a rollercoaster and an arcade. The estate has stood empty since the singer passed away and in 2015, it was renamed and listed for sale at $100 million. In the end, after having issues with finding a buyer, it sold for $22 million in 2020.
