TV producer Shonda Rhimes’ Los Angeles home did not look quite this beautiful when she found it. The 8,400-square-foot abode was definitely a fixer-upper, and Rhimes said that, when she first saw the home, she thought that it was “ugly.” Despite its flaws, she said she was drawn to it.

Rhimes teamed up with Michael S. Smith, a well-known designer, to restore the property. They created more natural light throughout the home, using glass, iron, and stone accents throughout. Rhimes kept antique pieces in the house, such as a William and Mary seaweed cabinet from the 1690s, an item she purchased in Holland.
