Laura Dern, the star of Big Little Lies, had to do a lot of work to get her Brentwood home to look this beautiful. The home was built in 1953 by famed mid-century designer Calvin C. Straub. Dern remodeled the home with Michael Kovac, opening it up by placing glass where there had been walls.

Dern and Kovac enlarged the kitchen, added skylights, and put in a pool. They also took away a light-blocking hedge, furthering the goal of having an open space. The actress called her home a “joyful space,” that she partially modeled on the “dollhouses” she had “growing up.”
