Robby the Robot was auctioned off for over $5 million, making a fitting end to his successful Hollywood career.

Bonhams, the auction house that sold it, confirmed that number was a record for a movie prop. In Forbidden Planet, a group of astronauts travels to a distant planet to find out the fate of another group sent there years earlier. The movie has a 96% rating on Rotten Tomatoes and is widely considered a sci-fi classic.
