Rudolph Nureyev is one of the twentieth century’s most celebrated dancers. The Russian ballet star relaxes in peace on Li Galli, a small, private archipelago off the Amalfi Coast of Italy. It was dubbed “the dance island,” not only because of Nureyev’s ownership, but also because it was shaped like a dolphin jumping.

Nureyev was reportedly obsessed with the ideas of majesty and grandeur, and the house he built reflects those ideals. He turned the simple Li Galli home into a Maharajah palace. He adorned the rooms with bronze Anatolian statues, Turkish mosaics, and Kilim carpets. Nureyev even put a helipad on the roof.
