Ted Turner is one of the richest people in the world, and the business tycoon bought a private island retreat for $4.9 million. He purchased St. Phillips Island from the state of South Carolina in 2018, and he has kept it pretty much the same—chock full of nature and wildlife.

The barrier island, which was described as “primitive,” has deer, gator, black fox squirrels, and tabby ruins, all of which are nestled amid hardwood maritime forests and pine trees. Turner turned the island from a private retreat into a commercial venture, and you can rent St. Phillips for $12,000 for five nights.
