Country music superstars Tim McGraw and Faith Hill aren’t just one of the cutest couples in Hollywood—they’re also the owners of a private island in the Bahamas. Goat Cay, also known as L’ile d’Anges, is worth $35 million now, but that value didn’t come cheap.

The singers bought the island in 2003, but it required a ton of work to get it up and running. The pair had to build housing for its construction staff, and then it had to import electricity, plumbing, and water for the crews. It took nine years to get L’ile d’Anges to its current glory. As Hill put it, they “set out to build a house,” but ended up having to build “a little town.”
