Raymond Burr, the star of TV dramas like Ironside and Perry Mason, was a classic villain from the 1950s. Burr’s ventures as the “bad guy” netted him a bank account in the millions, and he used some of that money to buy Naitoumba, a Fijian island in the northern Lau Island region.

Burr and his partner intended to use the 4,015-acre island for cattle and copra (dried coconut kernels). They raised cattle and grew Copra on Naitoumba until the 1980s, when the land was sold to a different buyer, a religious commune headed by Adi Da, for $2.1 million.
